Sitting here
with my cigarettes & caffeine
thinking of things
that might have been
Listening to music
in the wee hours of morn
I find comfort in it
a souls sojourn
adrift on notes
that help me
not feel alone
A mental mouthwash
to cleanse
to let emotions flow
from the depths
where they tend to stay
inside
private
hidden away
Somehow the music brings them
to the surface
instead of kept at bay
Eyes close
as the music
takes me
to another time & space
I float along
heeding its call
in time feeling
the burdens
fall
I breathe deeply
the musics essence
My head goes back
as I feel its presence
washing over me
Soothing
Lifting
Bringing me peace
in these moments
I have tranquility
Realizing
that all I need to do
right now
is simply be
